Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London hosted a ceremony to commemorate the 72nd Anniversary of Cambodia’s National Independence Day (9 November 1953 – 9 November 2025)

On 7 November 2025, the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London hosted a ceremony to commemorate the 72nd Anniversary of Cambodia’s National Independence Day (9 November 1953 – 9 November 2025).

The event was presided over by His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and attended by many members of the Cambodian community, as well as Cambodian students residing and studying in the United Kingdom.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Ambassador Tuot Panha recalled with deep gratitude the royal crusade of His Majesty King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk in securing Cambodia’s independence from French colonial rule.

His Excellency, the Minister, underscored the invaluable importance of peace, independence, and unity as the collective cornerstone of the Cambodian people across all generations. He reflected on the country’s history of war and its long journey toward lasting peace, highlighting the continued efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia to advance socio-economic development in all sectors. His Excellency also encouraged members of the Cambodian community and students to serve as Cambodia’s tourism Brand Ambassadors by promoting the country’s tourism potential to international friends and the British public, and by encouraging them to visit Cambodia.

On behalf of the ceremony, Her Excellency the Ambassador expressed profound gratitude and admiration to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister, as well as the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia, for their wise, principled, and visionary leadership, which has brought peace and prosperity to the Kingdom and its people to this day.

After the ceremony, participants also enjoyed a solidarity luncheon hosted by the Embassy.
