On 5 June 2026, the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland organized a Buddhist religious ceremony comprising the chanting of sacred Buddhist scriptures (Paritta), a memorial merit-making ceremony (Bangsakul), and a Dhamma sermon delivered by Venerable Samdech Preah Udom Vongsa Dr. Kou Sopheap, Abbot of Wat Nikrodhavan (Koul Totung), at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Cambodian community and Cambodian students currently residing and studying in the United Kingdom. The merit generated from the ceremony was dedicated to departed relatives and ancestors of seven generations, in particular the heroic Cambodian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the noble cause of defending the nation and homeland.
Following the religious ceremony, all participants gathered for a friendship luncheon in a warm and convivial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and the Cambodian community’s contribution to preserving and promoting Buddhism in the United Kingdom.
